I used to be eeehhh about this place, but since the new owners have taken over its taken a turn for the better. Great pizza, great service.

I always LOVED Panini Grills salads......well not anymore. They use to be chock full of ingredients and although 10$ is a lot for a salad, they were worth every penny.....now they are skimpy, hardly anything but lettuce which is sad. Also forgot things with the order (no dressing, no utensils, no bread with salads ) . You can't possibly charge that much for a salad this underwhelming.....very disappointed. I'm assuming it's the new management? Either way, won't be back.

First visit here came with my wife 2 kids and another couple. They did a beautiful job with decorating and it is a true Italian family ambiance. 5 of us had the Crispy Chicken special which was absolutely DELICIOUS! The staff was excellent and on top of everything...We will be customers for life!

To many complaints. Once again, we ordered from the take out menu and we ordered stuff shells. 3 small and I mean small stuffed shells for 9 bucks. (We didn't know how small they were going to be and for the price we at least thought we would get 6) Once delivered, there was hardly any sauce with the order and absolutely no bread and a very measly portion. Extremely disappointed and this is the 2nd time ordering and once again, we called, left complain, wanted to speak to manager and received no callback. Do not order take out

This is one my favorite places for brunch with friends. They have a nice variety of both sweet and savory. It had a nice and relaxed atmosphere. The service is very good and when you sit down for brunch, the immediately give you a basket of fried donuts. Ohh goodness are they good. Plain with a little powdered sugar. Yummy! One of my favorite things to have is the Stuffed French toast. Nice and thick and stuffed with cheesecake filling and fruit. Truly a work of art. Hungry just writing about it!

My husband and I were greeted immediately upon entering. We were escorted to a table and that's when the customer service ended, Our waiter took our drink order, when he returned we gave him our food order, We didn't see him again until we flagged him down for our bill, We asked another waitress for a second drink, no one asked us if our food was okay. Basically we were ignored, The waiter may have been new or inexperienced, We weren't even thanked. In spite of this the food was delicious and I will probably give them another chance but if I receive the same service I won't go back.

Great Italian food and plenty of it. Had the Dongan Hills pizza, pasta fagoli and my friend had the eggplant parm. Salad, wine, focaccia. Pizza was nice and thin the way I like it. Would have preferred a minestrone instead of the pasta fagoli, but it was good. Service is great, really friendly folks with a Brooklyn/Staten Island flair. (out waiter was Big Sal) .

My husband and I went here for lunch 2 days ago after a Dr appointment. We live on the other side of the island and were too hungry to wait. I had takeout from here when it was the previous owners around 10 years ago and to be honest it was not memorable and i never had it again. Our lunch was absolutely delicious and the price was great. The new owner came over to us and was so friendly. It is family owned and operated and you feel like you've been friends for years. We will absolutely go back for lunch and can't wait to try dinner. It is completely worth the drive from the other side of the island. Definitely give them a shot- it's nice to support a mom and pop business amongst the chains and typical fast food places.

I just ordered from Panini grill today for the first time, for a place called Panini gril they sure don't know how to make one. I ordered the roast beef Panini, what I got was 6 slice or roast beef on a small toast hero with two slices of cold un melted mozzarella. The pizza I ordered tastes like 5th grade school lunch pizza. Village Marie from now on, I don't even know why I bother.

I allow long enough between visits to this location (at least 1 year) to forget that I actually do not like to eat here. Went there today thinking they'd have the front windows open on such a gorgeous day - they did not. We decided to stay anyway...had an overdressed caesar salad - they were out of whole wheat panini bread and the sandwich my husband ordered. Instead - he had a sub-par prosciutto panini. It was almost sad to watch him eat the undesirable, too tough meat. It reminded me why we space out our visits there and made me long for the days when Pal Joey's occupied that location. What I wouldn't have given for a pepperoni pie and grape soda of my childhood.

I love getting this place for lunch excellent sandwiches and Paninis my wife loves their specialty pizzas. I usually do take out but eating in is nice too service is good and it's nice to get a glass of wine with a panini especially when they open the front in the summer time.

The best!! They have a variety of outstanding salads. When you order a salad they don't down it in dressing like other restaurants:) most of my family is gluten free and you can order any kind of pizza or pasta gluten-free without a problem. They make everything with love and you can defiantly taste that in the food!!!!

I just settled in at home after enjoying a Mothers Day dinner here. First, the portions. Every course had the perfect amount of food. My clams were good, the pasta trio was delish, my fave was the tortellini with pesto cream sauce, and I HATE tortellini. It was that good!! My entree was the surf and Turf and it was awesome. The asparagus was perfect, potatoes creamy and flavorful, filet mignon was perfectly seasoned and the shrimp was so good!! The family that now owns this establishment truly takes pride in their work and has infused panini grill with a new lease on life. It used to take forever in here (previous ownership) and tonight everything was timed to perfection. And as always, our waitress Taylor, was a gem. She handles herself with such poise and class and you can't help but feel like she is a part of your family. Thank you for a lovely Mother's Day!!

Gave this place a second chance after a mediocre first try that included sending soup back THREE times before it was hot and inattentive manager/owners. Second time was WORSE! The chicken in our dish was stringy and we ordered apps that were read to us with the specials, imagine our surprise when the check came and the app ( FOUR won tons=$16.00!!!) cost more than our entrée!!! When I asked for the manager he approached me in a rude, aggressive manner and insisted they were "hand made", not frozen. Was my stringy chicken frozen then since it cost less than FOUR won tons?!? Average, expensive food and obnoxious owner/managers; with so many GOOD restaurants on S.I. just skip this place

Excellent. Ever since they went under new management I have nothing but good things to say. The owners and / or family are always there making sure everything is on point.

The food is amazing Lois is the best waitress ever !!! You can't go wrong with anything you pick on this menu ! My favorite is the chicken francese panini with extra sauce on the side to dip ! The atmosphere is nice cozy warm it's every intimate ! It's perfect for hanging out with a few friends to just grab something to eat and catch up or a dinner date! For the price for authentic Italian food I try to go once a week or at least once or twice a month!

A friend went here last night to celebrate her sons birthday. For dessert they ordered him an ice cream and what did they find in it? A piece of glass. I'm sure it was an accident however management wasn't even courteous enough to offer them not even a discount on their meal. How dare they? I know where I'm never going to take my family.

This is a gem on the north shore. Ignorantly, I didn't eat here for years based on the name alone. However, I ended up here for lunch and fell in love. Whenever I need a solid meal, where I don't want to spend a ton, this is a great option. Everything is good- no joke. I had the rigatoni bolognese last weekend, and have had everything else in between as well.

Since the new owners have taken over we have been here for lunch and dinner several times. They have a great gluten free menu, great paninis, and wonderful salads. The service is very good, fast, and very friendly. We love talking to Rosario who is one of the managers and knows everything about what's on the menu. The food here is excellent, the mozzarella stuffed with ricotta is my favorite, and the Peach sangri is the best. The atmosphere here is very nice and very clean.Thr prices here are reasonable, for the amount of excellent food you get.I highly recommendPanini Grill for a great meal.

A great find for the gluten-free! The new owners really did a great job with this restaurant. The previous owners offered gluten-free selections but neither they nor their kitchen staff had no clue as to cross-contamination etc. Been there a few times now and have had no problem. Panini Grill has the best gluten-free pizza crust I've found which they also use to make their gluten-free paninis. {I was shown the crust, which comes separately packaged and wrapped.} Their regular menu is wonderful as well and they have the best salads. The owners and wait staff are wonderfully friendly and accommodating. My new go-to restaurant!

06/17/14 Now that panini grill is under new ownership, and having been there several times since the grand reopening, I can say this place has made a huge turn around. The food is excellent and the service has vastly improved. If they can shed the old image then this place will find a permanent niche in the heavily saturated restaurant population along Forest ave. I highly recommend the Sunday brunch or one of the many assorted specialty pizzas. 05/17/15 Having been back to the PG numerous times under the new management I was at first totally impressed with the way they managed to turn the place around, however lately we have been noticing a slide back to the old way of doing things - today's experience being the icing on the cake which I regret to say has been the deciding factor why we will NOT return and are scratching this restaurant off our list. Visited this afternoon with a small group of family. The service was completely horrible. Took 47 mins from the time we placed our order to the time it was brought to the table. The order was merely soup, salads, and sandwiches and a regular dinner entree. The restaurant had only 4 other tables with customers so there was no excuse. When questioned, our waitress assigned to the rear round table was snippy. Then to add insult when the orders finally arrived, 2 were wrong, and 2 of the other orders were literally flooded with so much salt they could not be finished. If the owners of the "new" PG expect the restaurant to remain a viable addition to the neighborhood and hope to build a loyal customer base they should consider consistency with service, consistency with the food quality, and pleasant staff. Seems like a simple recipe.

Under new ownership, an already good restaurant is even better. The artichoke appetizer was wonderful, different than anything we've had before. The pizza was to die for, a thin crust masterpiece. The eggplant parmesan , my wife's favorite dish, did not disappoint a tough critic--thinly sliced, lightly breaded eggplant made for a winning dish . The welcoming staff and owner made this a place we will come on every trip to Staten Island.

I was pleasantly surprised that this place is a full service Italian restaurant. With a name like Panini Grill I was thinking it was just a café that served light meals and sandwiches. I had the chicken marsala which is my "go to" dish when trying a new Italian place. Anyone can make decent pasta with tomato sauce, chicken parmesan and other simple but delicious Italian comfort food. But chicken marsala is a complex dish with a wine sauce and mushrooms; plenty of ways to mess it up. So I judge Italian restaurants by that dish. Panini Grill has a very good chicken marsala. My only complaint is the sauce is a bit thin, not rich and viscous as it should be in my opinion. However, it was very flavorful and exactly how my late wife would have made her version of it. Unlike me, she liked thinner sauces that she could dip her bread into. So I don't hold that against the place. It also has very good prices so you get a good sized portion and delicious meal at a price that won't break your budget. This has become one of my favorite Italian places to eat at. The dessert list is exquisite with a very nice choice of varied sweets. Everyone should be able to find something they like to finish off a great meal. Panini Grill is more than just panini, it's a great place to go for Italian that is unpretentious enough to go to often with the family and not leave your wallet sore.

You know what the real travesty here is? That no matter how many times they didn't have a certain menu item, no matter how many times my food took forever, no matter how many times an angry delivery driver treated me like a fool the one thing I could always count on was my wife and I heading inside on a Friday afternoon and having that funny waiter serve us lunch. Now, for reasons that were not told to us, that kid is no longer with the firm. This place went from a family atmosphere, to a dysfunctional family atmosphere and has now morphed into something that seems like a corporate fabrication of what home style Italian cuisine is suppose to entail. It's nobody's fault, times change and so do people and tastes. That said there's one place for sure that this patron will no longer be giving it's money to, and that my fellow Yelpers would be Panini Grill.

Had dinner here a few weeks ago. Bruschetta was delicious. The tiramisu was DELICIOUS. The chicken francese definitely leaves a lot to the imagination. It reminded me a bit of Chinese food chicken, and coming from me, that is not a compliment. I am an avid lover of all things francese and the Panini Grill's francese is definitely sub-par. I will definitely come here for appetizers and dessert though.

I came in thinking it would be a great environment for my friend and I to catch up. I arrived first and had to wait about 10-15 minutes for my friend. In those 10-15 minutes, not a single staff member acknowledged my arrival, except for the girl at the register who led me to my seat. A few minutes after I came in, two women sat down next to me and the waiter came right away to serve them. Within a few minutes, they had drinks and menus in front of them and the waiter still hadn't acknowledge me. No menu, not a glass of water, not even a hello. When my friend arrived, we waited another 5 minutes until we became fed up with the service. We didn't feel appreciated so we took our business somewhere else for lunch. Will definitely never return again!

I used to eat here all the time, but I noticed their service and food were slowly declining, so I stopped going. However, I went back again tonight, and I was very impressed with my food, and the service was great too. I think they may be under new ownership, and it definitely shows. I ordered one of the specials, breaded chicken stuffed with orzo, it was absolutely delicious! For appetizer, the Asian fried calamari was amazing! I will definitely become a regular customer again, they were very welcoming and attentive.

Been here a few times, twice I took it to go so I won't comment on service although the girls I've spoken to at the counter are friendly. All the food I've ordered was good. Had a chicken and goat cheese panini that was delish. They have more than just paninis , but you'd think by the name they'd have all sorts of interesting/creative paninis.... But they do not.

We ordered a Sicilian Pie and an order of Garlic Knots. We got a cold burnt grandma pie with garlic bread. When I called to get the order fixed the manager said we don't have Sicilian Pie's and we don't have garlic knots. I told manager... You should have told me this when I ordered. She replied the girl who answers the phone knows this...I guess not. No apology just an attitude like I'm crazy. I got nothing but attitude and a cold burnt pie.

I have been going to Panini Grill since they opened several years ago, and in my opinion they have the best eggplant rollatini and I get it every time. Their nachos are also amazing. You don't get the feeling that you are rushed and the staff never bother you to leave. They lose a star because their service is TERRIBLE, though I do like the waiter Jay-- he's hilarious but incredibly unprofessional. The owners are also odd though good natured. The other day I saw the owner packing away cans of tomatoes into his own Nissan. Very questionable. His wife is also a total idiot--someone in my party ordered a dish not knowing it takes 45 minutes to cook (should've been noted in the menu), and a member of my party complained about how long the food was taking. She made a big show of saying "I wish I knew what I could do!" and "I hope there was something I could do to fix this!" Yea, lady? Customer service isn't that hard--just make the guests feel welcome. Either offer free coffee or dessert or take the 45 minute dish off the bill. Very simple. Please owners, learn how to manage your employees and please take a customer service seminar. Your guests will appreciate it.

This place has been great since day 1. Awesome selection, fresh, tasty food, and nice ambiance. Their prices are totally reasonable and the portions are huge. I usually get a soup and a panini (the one with chicken and pesto is great), and they are always willing too add or subtract ingredients to make it to your taste. Desserts are really good also (not sure if they make them on the premises or what). Espresso and cappuccinos are well made also. Only problems sometimes is parking, because they are on a main road with lots of traffic.

Awesome food! Well.... The garlic bread is brutally toasted and will fug up the roof of your mouth! The service is always terrible arm & leg to get refills. Other than that will continue to go, from what I learned on si/NYC service is never good.

Went here last minute looking for something to eat. Had the best Fried Calamari and eggplant parm. My daughter had the caesar salad with chicken and again nicely done fresh lettuce, without the core (why do people think you can eat that) nice not overcooked chicken. not overdressed salad. everything was delicious and for the price so worth it!!!

The new management did a really excellent job. The decor is quaint and warm. They have really great service. They're super attentive and give you an iPad to rate the service at the end of your meal. Your opinion is valued, for sure. This has become my go to restaurant in West Brighton for lunch or dinner. I have yet to be disappointed. I've tried a few different menu items and I've gone with a few different friends, and everyone has enjoyed their meals. My favorite is the positano salad with grilled calamari and balsamic. It's always fresh and delicious. I look forward to trying brunch here!

No gravy, no ketchup, no plates, no plastic forks, no napkins that included 2liter complementary soda (read below to find out why?) Oh! And I forgot to mention, No cups. Stopped by for lunch with four colleagues. Once seated it took them a while to bring our menu and take our drinks. Time passed and the server finally takes our order. We noticed at another table customers were waiting for their food as well! We asked how long they have been waiting... "A while " we were told. We started to get worried as we needed to get back within the hour. Well the food never came and we wound up paying for it to be delivered. There is an old Italian saying "chi paga prima mangia pesce marcio" translation "those who pay first eats rotten fish" My colleagues were not happy with the delay and once the food arrived it was not appealing at all. Burned American cheese that we had to throw out. Where is the gravy?... I placed this order for the gravy" one of them said. And where is the ketchup for my fries... Another said. "Where are the plates for the pizza and do you have a fork so I can eat the salad?" BTW (by the way) the Asian salad was really BAD; romaine lettuce and Asian dressing. I could have made a better one at home. We had to get water from the vending machine as we did not have any cups to drink our complementary soda. Lunch is about an hour; less to get to and fro. If you can't serve us, let us know ! so we ca grab something fast at another locale. BTW we should have gotten the hint of the delay. We noticed when we arrived there was a group of people waiting, not to be seated but to pick up their food. And lefts minutes before we did! Management better step up your game! As us gals will definitely NOT be coming back.

We placed an order for pickup. Chipotle Chicken Panini and Turkey Bruschetta Panini with an addition of bacon. The chicken chipotle panini was missing a key ingredient on the menu -- avocado. The Turkey Bruschetta was missing the bacon, which I was charged $1 for. Called the restaurant, they offered a credit. When I called again a few days later to place the order, we found out they never wrote our credit down, and simply offered 10% off our order. Excuse me? Needless to say we were quite miffed that they could only offer 10% on TWO wrong sandwiches. Never ordering from here again. Shame too, because their food is pretty good, when they get it right. Also, expect an attitude from the employees if you call to complain. They take a very much "not our fault" approach, and believe their customers are out to "game them". Pathetic customer service -- from someone who works in the corporate service industry.

Our family enjoyed delicious feast at the Panini Grill! Our burrata appetizer, with added special peppadew peppers, set the stage for great dining experience. The special gourmet, thin crust pizza topped with oyster mushrooms, speck, white truffle oil and burrata is the most delicious pizza our family ever enjoyed! Without a doubt, this pizza is one of a kind made with the best quality ingredients. We also enjoyed eggplant and pepper paninis and Rosario's own protein special panini filled with white beans, avocado and spinach!! Our dessert, chocolate molten cake with ice cream and whipped cream was mouth watering as well, especially while sipping cold espresso mousse that is outstanding! Truly, the Panini Grill is a gem. The most professional management, most attentive waitstaff and pretty atmosphere are all a plus!! Buon Appetito!!

Amazing! I go there often, like a go to place when heading out. The food is always delicious and comes out in a timely fashion....even when crowded, which it often is. The service staff are always friendly and attentive, especially when Rosario is there. He really is on top of everything. Definitely a great local spot to enjoy a great meal.

I visited when it changed owners and was impressed with the food and the service. Everything was perfect until I visited again a month later. The food was horrible and the service was subpar. The waiter was not attentive like our first encounter. We had to flag him down for his attention. The owner or whoever he was and couldn't bother to visit our table, but instead was visiting regulars. I'm disappointed in the service and food.

Went to panini grill again today for lunch and the two waiters recommended the Panini grill loco margarita for $35!! I was there for an hour drinking it with two other people. Once again panini grill strikes as the best restaurant in 5 boroughs in my book!

I eat here three to four times a week plus Sunday brunch and each meal has been superb!! I wish I could say which dish is my favorite but with their daily specials, I am finding out that you just can't go wrong no matter what you order!! Okay, I'll confess, I'm the customer from hell, always ordering a specific item but changing something, "I'll have this but can you take this out and add that?" They've accommodated me each time!!! Oh, and be prepared to take home leftovers!!! Haven't been able to complete a meal! Then again, I must leave room for the carrot cake!!!! It's the best carrot cake I have ever had!! Even better than my own, and that is saying a lot!! I guarantee you will enjoy it!! If you don't, you're probably more difficult than I am!!! LOL

I haven't eaten here but the Staten Island Children's Museum uses Panini Grill as the exclusive caterer for their birthday parties. We were a bit bummed initially that we couldn't pick out our own caterer. However, after eating the food, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We ordered a hero, paninis and pizza. The pizza was just average but the heros and paninis were SO good. The ingredients in them were just so tasty and fresh. In case you are reading this because you're having your kids bday party at the museum and wondering about the food... don't worry at all. The food is excellent.

The panini's are good and the pizzas are interesting. They have all types of pies with a variety of toppings, each named after a different Staten Island neighborhood. If you're looking for something delicious and a little different, try one of their pies.

  • Kaycee B.

I absolutely love Panini Grill. I recommend them to everyone for everything ranging from their panini's, pizza, and pasta. However, I gave them 4 stars because of an issue I had with their delivery. I was not aware there was a $15 minimum, which I have no problem with whatsoever; however, I've gotten take-out from them multiple times where I have spent less than $15. The only thing I would fix is the knowledge of employee's answering the phones since it not only poses confusion for customers when something like this happens, but can also be annoying to the workers who might possibly get an attitude from a customer for doing the proper procedure for delivery.

I had one of the best times ever Saturday night at this place. They have amazing food and service. The owners are often in house and are very friendly and accommodating. Saturday was the one year anniversary and I am sure they will have many more. If you are on Staten Island you must go to panini grill you will not be disappointed. Not only are the portions big but the food is always fresh and the specials are to die for. I frequent this place at least 1 time a month. -lee m

The food is pretty good here. I recommend the turkey, caramelized onion and artichoke dip panini. Avoid the cheese fries, those aren't very good. Overall, good atmosphere and good food. Pretty overpriced though.

One of the better places to eat on staten island. Great pre fixed menu. Food tasted amazing (though I wouldn't recommend the baked clams). All in all this place gets a solid 4 out of 5 stars from me. I plan on returning to try everything they have on the menu.
